The most appropriate type of thigh lift depends on the amount and location of excess skin, as well as your individual goals.
Medial Thigh Lift
A medial thigh lift is designed for patients with excess skin primarily affecting the upper inner thigh. The scar is positioned as high as possible within the groin and buttock creases to minimise visibility. This procedure often includes liposuction and typically takes around 1–1.5 hours to perform under general anaesthetic, with a one-night hospital stay.
Vertical Thigh Lift
A vertical thigh lift is more suitable for patients with generalised skin laxity affecting the entire thigh. The procedure removes a larger amount of excess skin and tightens the full length of the inner thigh. While it can achieve more extensive contour improvement, it leaves a longer scar running down the inner thigh. Surgery usually takes 2–2.5 hours and typically requires a two-night hospital stay.
Circumferential Thigh Lift
A circumferential thigh lift is a less common procedure, usually reserved for patients who have experienced significant weight loss and have extensive excess skin around the entire upper thigh. The operation involves removing skin around the circumference of the thigh to achieve more comprehensive tightening. Because it is a more complex procedure, surgery can take 3–4 hours and usually requires a hospital stay of 2–3 days. Recovery is generally longer than with other thigh lift techniques.
